Chief of Staff – Player-Coach Hybrid (Pre-PMF SaaS)

A pre-product-market-fit, fast-growing B2B SaaS company based in NYC is operating at the intersection of technology, policy, and enterprise trust. We partner with public-sector organizations and enterprises to modernize critical infrastructure. We are growing fast and need a hands-on Chief of Staff to make the CEO dramatically more effective.

The Role

The Chief of Staff will make the CEO dramatically more effective by managing bandwidth and priorities. The ideal candidate will be able to operate as a proactive player-coach hybrid — strategic enough to sit in on a pricing discussion or a legislative briefing and add real value, yet tactical enough to make sure every follow-up actually happens. This role is demanding because of its breadth and pace, not because we expect you to be on-call around the clock. The person who will thrive in this role will be a self-starter who spots what needs doing and moves on it without waiting for direction.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Deal & Pipeline Support: Own CRM hygiene, prep the CEO for meetings (pulling background on agencies and procurement officers), draft follow-up emails, and track where every opportunity stands.
  2. AI-Driven Process Improvement: You'll have a standing mandate to find places where AI can create velocity — building monitoring pipelines that auto-summarize new legislation, setting up AI-assisted meeting prep workflows, or creating drafting tools that let the CEO review and ship content in a fraction of the time.
  3. Strategic Research & Synthesis: Proactively monitor industry developments (competitor moves, procurement shifts), synthesize them into digestible briefs, and flag what matters to the CEO.
  4. Communications & Content Leverage: Draft, edit, and polish executive communications, speaker notes, and thought leadership content. Turn a rough voice memo into a polished one-pager.
  5. Cross-Functional Gap-Filling: Run a hiring process one week, manage event prep the next, jump into a partner integration workstream after that. The willingness to move fluidly across contexts is critical.

Qualifications

  1. 5-8+ years of experience in some combination of strategy, operations, consulting, business development, or a high-ownership role within a technology company. The exact path matters less than the pattern: you've consistently been the person others rely on to make things happen.
  2. Exceptional written communication: You'll be drafting on behalf of the CEO and must be able to synthesize complex information into clear, compelling narratives.
  3. Comfortable with ambiguity and context-switching throughout the day. Judgment, ownership, and a bias toward action are non-negotiable.
  4. Located in the NY metro area strongly preferred (remote candidates willing to travel frequently will be considered).

Compensation & Benefits

  1. Base salary range: $135,000 – $180,000
  2. Significant equity package
  3. Travel reimbursement for client meetings and company events
  4. Unlimited PTO with a minimum two-week requirement
  5. Health and wellness stipends
