Job Title: Forward Deployed Engineer, Client Platform & Integrations
Location: San Francisco, CA (Onsite)
Team: Engineering & Deployment
Partner: A pioneering AI company building an autonomous operator for growth marketing, backed by Quiet Capital.
About Our Hiring Partner
Our hiring partner is engineering a fundamental shift in digital growth by building an AI Operator that applies the quantitative rigor of high-frequency trading to autonomously optimize advertising spend. Their platform delivers transformative efficiency gains, systematically replacing traditional agency models with algorithmic precision. Already entrusted with managing critical budgets for leading global e-commerce brands, they are on a definitive path to scaling billions in autonomous volume. As an early-stage San Francisco team, they are assembling a unique blend of talent to ensure their powerful, generalized AI engine connects seamlessly with the complex realities of global businesses.
Why This Role is Strategic
- The Critical Bridge: Serve as the essential technical and strategic link between a sophisticated autonomous engine and the nuanced, messy reality of client data, goals, and operations.
- Own High-Stakes Relationships: Act as the trusted technical advisor to senior client leadership (CFOs, Heads of Growth), directly translating AI performance into business strategy and value.
- Shape the Product Roadmap: Be the first to identify market gaps and client needs, feeding critical, field-tested insights directly back to the core engineering team to influence platform evolution.
- A Hybrid Career Path: Operate at the unique intersection of deep technical software engineering, applied data science, and strategic client partnership—a standout opportunity among San Francisco startup jobs.
About the Role
We are seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to serve as the technical bridge between our autonomous engine and the complex reality of our clients' businesses. This role is a hybrid of Software Engineering and Applied Data Science.
You are the translator who converts client truth into system truth. You will write production code to integrate disparate data sources while using your statistical toolkit to prove value and guide strategy. You will own the technical relationship, leading syncs with senior client leadership to explain performance, propose experiments, and identify opportunities. You will be instrumental in closing the gap between product and market, shaping the platform's future.
What You'll Do
- Engineer the Integration: Write production-grade code to connect our system to client data ecosystems. Navigate complex data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery) to build robust pipelines for first-party signals, financial data, and business logic.
- Own the Strategic Client Relationship: Serve as the primary technical point of contact. Lead recurring syncs with client executives to explain system performance, propose new testing roadmaps, and preemptively address concerns with data-driven clarity.
- Drive Scientific Strategy & Value Proof: Design and analyze causal experiments (e.g., A/B tests, holdbacks). Translate statistical findings into clear business recommendations and compelling value narratives to secure and expand partnerships.
- Standardize and Scale Learnings: Identify repetitive integration patterns and client needs across deployments. Collaborate with core engineering to refactor custom solutions into standardized, scalable platform features.
Who You Are
- A Senior Technologist: You have 6+ years of experience in a software engineering, data engineering, or highly technical client-facing role. You write clean, production-grade Python and complex, efficient SQL.
- Customer-Obsessed & Proactive: You build deep empathy for client goals and anxieties. You are a master of expectation management, proactive communication, and building long-term trust.
- Statistically Fluent & Pragmatic: You understand causal inference, experiment design, and statistical significance. You can explain technical concepts like confidence intervals to a non-technical business audience.
- A Strategic Influencer & Problem-Solver: You excel at stakeholder alignment. You know when to solve a problem independently and when to escalate or pull in specialized resources (e.g., founders, ML team) to unblock a strategic challenge.
Bonus Points
- Proven FDE Experience: You have worked in a Forward Deployed Engineer or similar technical customer-facing role at an engineering-led B2B company (e.g., Palantir, similar platforms).
- Technical Data Science Background: A strong foundation in data science, econometrics, or quantitative analysis, paired with a shift into software engineering.
- Business-Focused ML Experience: Experience as a Machine Learning Engineer with a focus on business logic, product integration, and measurable outcomes rather than pure research.
Compensation & Benefits
This role offers a competitive package reflective of its seniority, client-facing nature, and critical impact on revenue and product direction.
- Salary: $180,000 – $270,000
- Equity: A significant early-stage equity package.
- Relocation: Support for candidates moving to the Bay Area.
- Daily Meals: Provided lunch and optional dinner.
- Comprehensive Benefits: Full health, dental, and vision coverage, alongside an unlimited PTO policy.
