About the company

A labor platform that pairs end-to-end workforce management technology with a global network of five million flexible workers, built to solve staffing at the scale of the world's largest retail, convenience, and consumer brands. Its model fractionalizes jobs down to individual shifts, letting workers move across multiple employers through one digital marketplace.

Growth has run 2–3x every year since founding, backed by more than $120M from top-tier investors. The mission is to build the leading platform for hourly workers and the enterprises that employ them creating flexibility, choice, and genuine upward mobility.

Why this role exists

The engineering team is responsible for anticipating and solving problems across every function of the business, with solutions that hold up for enterprise customers and for the workers earning on the platform.

This is the senior technical seat on that team. Beyond writing code, this engineer sets direction: making the architectural calls, deciding what gets built and in what order, and raising the standard of everyone around them. It is a ground-floor opportunity inside a category worth roughly $2 trillion in the U.S. alone, on a team drawn from leading technology companies, top business schools, and top-tier consulting firms.

Responsibilities

  1. Lead complex technical initiatives end to end — from first idea and design through production, deployment, and iteration. Representative work includes tuning the dispatch algorithm to improve shift fill rates and rebuilding onboarding to lift worker conversion
  2. Design and architect performant, reliable systems, services, and tools across Node.js, React/React Native, MongoDB, Python, and GCP
  3. Own the technical vision, shape product strategy alongside leadership, and run regular technical reviews
  4. Keep the platform healthy in a high-volume, two-sided marketplace - monitoring performance, resolving issues, and keeping the shift marketplace clearing
  5. Mentor junior engineers and play an active role in scaling the team as it grows

What the company is looking for

  1. A software expert. 6+ years of software engineering experience across a range of technical projects and initiatives, with real depth in the core stack — Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, and React Native
  2. A collaborator. Works naturally across leadership, product, design, and engineering to solve hard problems on a modern MERN stack
  3. Outcome-oriented. Digs into the business context and connects technical decisions to results the company can measure
  4. A builder. Entrepreneurial by instinct, creates clarity in ambiguity and takes ownership of outcomes without waiting to be handed them
  5. Startup hungry. Energized by a fast-moving, high-growth environment and willing to get hands dirty wherever the work is

Benefits

  1. 100% of employee premiums covered for medical, dental, and vision (60–75% for dependents)
  2. 401(k) match: 100% on the first 3% of contributions and 50% on the next 2%, for a 4% maximum
  3. Generous, fully paid parental and family leave
  4. Pre-tax commuter benefits
  5. Collaborative office with a fully stocked kitchen in Lower Manhattan

Equal opportunity

The company is committed to building a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will be considered for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.
