About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Platform Developer to join the platform team. This pivotal role will be instrumental in building, scaling, and maintaining the robust and secure infrastructure that powers the mission-critical platform.

You will be a force multiplier, enabling development teams to deliver features faster and more reliably. You will champion infrastructure-as-code principles, contribute code to platform scalability, drive automation across the entire software development lifecycle, and ensure the platform meets the highest standards of scalability, performance, and security.

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop and support highly available, scalable, and secure platform and infrastructure.
2. Develop and maintain robust automation pipelines for continuous delivery (CI/CD) and infrastructure provisioning using tools like GoCD, Harness, and Terraform.
3. Write clean, efficient, and well-tested Python code for automation, tooling, and service development.
4. Manage and optimize relational or in-memory databases, including PostgreSQL, Redshift, and Redis, ensuring high performance, reliability, and data integrity.
5. Administer and fine-tune container orchestration platforms such as EKS and ECS.
6. Implement and manage serverless architectures leveraging AWS Lambda for various platform functionalities.
7. Collaborate closely with development teams to ensure infrastructure aligns with application requirements and best practices.
8. Contribute to defining and enforcing security best practices across the platform, including adherence to HIPAA, FISMA, SOC 2, and FedRAMP compliance standards.
9. Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement proactive solutions to ensure optimal operation and scalability.
10. Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to provide continuous operational support and rapid incident response.
11. Adopt Agile/Scrum methodologies, actively participating in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
12. Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to enhance platform capabilities and efficiency.
13. Develop internal tooling and automation scripts using Python and work with SQL to support operational workflows.
14. Implement observability (monitoring/logging/alerting) best practices for highly available SaaS services.

Required Qualifications

1. 3+ years of experience as a Platform Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or Site Reliability Engineer.
2. Strong expertise in AWS infrastructure and services including but not limited to EC2, Lambda, ECS, EKS, RDS, S3, VPC, CloudWatch, SQS, SNS, IAM, and Kinesis.
3. Excellent proficiency with Terraform, Python, SQL, and automation tooling.
4. Extensive experience with Docker and container orchestration (Kubernetes/EKS).
5. Solid understanding and hands-on experience with SQL, database administration (PostgreSQL preferred), and performance tuning.
6. Experience with CI/CD systems (e.g., GoCD, GitHub Actions, Harness).
7. Proven experience in automating observability and monitoring (Grafana, Kibana, Prometheus), standardizing incident response for alerts to maintain SLAs and SLOs.
8. Hands-on experience in environments compliant with FISMA, SOC 2, and/or FedRAMP.
9. Background in building highly scalable, performant SaaS platforms.
10. Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
11. Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including developers, IT security and compliance, product managers, and scrum masters.
12. Strong experience supporting 24/7 production on-call rotations, including responding to alerts and resolving incidents outside of standard business hours.
