Position Summary

The company is seeking a versatile Software Engineer to join its tight-knit, early-stage team. This engineer will play a critical role in a pivotal moment for the company as it scales its existing products and explores new verticals. The successful candidate will solve complex technical challenges, shape the product direction, and own key initiatives across the full technology stack.

Key Responsibilities

1. Collaborate with cross-functional partners in Product and Design to shape roadmap priorities, define user experiences, and drive product direction.
2. Own features end-to-end, from initial exploration and prototyping to implementation, launch, and subsequent iteration.
3. Build scalable, high-quality systems while solving technical challenges related to performance, architecture, and system reliability.
4. Continuously improve the codebase, infrastructure, and development practices, balancing velocity with quality through tested code and thoughtful trade-offs.
5. Contribute to technical leadership by participating in architectural decisions, helping shape engineering standards, and supporting team growth through interviewing.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Required Qualifications:

1. 3+ years of professional software development experience as an Individual Contributor.
2. Strong computer science fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, system design, and distributed systems.
3. A commitment to writing high-quality, testable code and upholding best practices in engineering, security, and design.
4. A startup mindset: resourceful, adaptable, and comfortable operating in an environment with ambiguity.
5. An enthusiasm for learning new tools, technologies, and methodologies.
6. Ability to work effectively in a remote setting with availability during core team hours (9 AM - 12 PM PT).

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience building 0 → 1 products and engineering systems from the ground up.
2. A passion for building great products and robust engineering systems.
3. Ability to thrive in both autonomous and collaborative settings.

Sample Projects

The engineer in this role may work on projects such as:

1. Building a DeFi intelligence product to inform users on optimal staking returns.
2. Developing and enhancing the core crypto accounting and tax calculation engine.
3. Implementing tax-loss harvesting features to minimize capital gains taxes for users.
4. Contributing to the development of new, greenfield products.

Technical Challenges

The team tackles complex problems, including:

1. Scale & Performance: Processing billions of data points for users with millions of transactions.
2. Complex Logic: Developing systems for transfer detection, cost basis tracking, and tax optimization.
3. Blockchain Integration: Working with raw blockchain data, smart contracts, and running nodes.
4. System Complexity: Integrating hundreds of exchanges and wallets while maintaining accuracy and reliability.

Technology Stack

1. Web: TypeScript, React, React Native, TailwindCSS
2. Mobile: React Native, Expo, GraphQL
3. Backend: Python, Flask, GraphQL, Postgres, Redis, Temporal
4. Infrastructure: GCP, Terraform, Docker, Pub/Sub, Datadog

Compensation and Benefits
