About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Software Developer to join the mission to transform the nation's healthcare system. In this role, you will assist in leading projects from design to delivery, partnering with product managers and designers to define requirements during discovery and planning. You will collaborate with developers to deliver those requirements on time as new features or improvements to existing functionality.

This role combines technical leadership with hands-on coding, requiring a strong background in Python, PostgreSQL, and cloud infrastructure, along with a collaborative spirit and a passion for healthcare technology.

Key Responsibilities

1. Exercise leadership over features from design to delivery.
2. Partner with product, design, and quality assurance team members.
3. Become a subject matter expert on your team's products.
4. Provide technical support to cross-functional team members and stakeholders.
5. Expand the web-based enterprise health platform using Python, AWS services, and other technologies.
6. Work in an Agile/Scrum environment.
7. Write unit tests and uphold engineering best practices.
8. Demonstrate agency, urgency, and ownership over delivering quality work.

Required Qualifications

1. 7+ years of job-related experience.
2. A desire to work at a health tech company and make a meaningful impact.
3. Strong Python experience (Flask / SQLAlchemy).
4. Advanced PostgreSQL database knowledge (e.g., common table expressions, windowing functions, views, stored procedures, full-text or geospatial indexing).
5. Experience with infrastructure as code using AWS, Terraform, or similar technologies.
6. Experience writing unit tests.
7. Git expertise and experience working in a mono repo.
8. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
9. Ability to demonstrate agency, urgency, and ownership over delivering quality work.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Previous Pharmacy Benefits Manager (PBM) experience is a plus.
