About the Company

Most of e-commerce is optimized for a single, simple transaction: buying something for oneself. But the moment a customer tries to purchase for someone else—a friend, a client, a team—the experience fractures. Forgetting a friend's address means texting them and ruining a surprise. Coordinating client gifts requires a hundred individual checkouts or filling out a clunky "Contact Us" form with the hope a human responds. It is a friction-filled paradox: the moment a customer is most motivated to spend money, the technology fails them.

This company is building the operating system for social commerce, transforming the chaotic process of sending gifts—whether one or one thousand—into an experience as seamless as buying for oneself. The company powers gifting for 100+ top brands, including Lindt Chocolate, Levain Bakery, Dandelion Chocolate, and Brightland. As a profitable, ~10-person team growing 3X+ year-over-year, the company is at a critical inflection point.

The Role

The company is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join at this pivotal moment. This is not a role where specs are handed down; this is an opportunity to define what gets built and how it works. Reporting directly to the founding team, the Senior Software Engineer will architect and build the infrastructure that makes gifting delightful at scale—handling everything from seamless checkout flows to complex logistics coordination.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Architect & Build: Design, develop, and ship high-quality software that powers the gifting experience for consumers and enterprise brands alike. Own features end-to-end, from technical design through deployment.
  2. Shape Product Direction: Partner directly with the Co-Founders and Lead Designer to influence product strategy and roadmap. Engineers at this company don't just implement tickets—they solve problems.
  3. Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work hand-in-hand with design and brand partners to translate insights into technical solutions that delight users.
  4. Scale the Foundation: Establish engineering best practices, design scalable systems, and lay the architectural groundwork that will support the company's 3X+ growth trajectory. Help build the engineering culture and team as the company expands.

Who You Are

  1. You have 4+ years of software engineering experience, ideally at startups or high-growth SaaS companies.
  2. You have experience taking products from zero to one, navigating the ambiguity of early-stage development with confidence.
  3. You are proficient in modern backend development (Python, Node.js, or similar) and comfortable with cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP).
  4. You have experience building and integrating APIs, working with e-commerce platforms, or developing checkout flows (bonus points if this is you).
  5. You prioritize shipping and learning over endless debate. You're fast without being sloppy, and you understand the tradeoffs between perfection and progress.
  6. You are opinionated about architecture but collaborative in execution. You'd rather ship and iterate than theorize in the abstract.

What the Company Offers

  1. Impact: The chance to be a foundational engineering hire at a hyper-growth startup. You won't be handed specs; you will decide what gets built and how it scales.
  2. Compensation: Competitive salary plus significant early-stage equity.
  3. Benefits: Health, vision, and dental insurance, unlimited PTO, and yes—excellent gifts.
  4. Location: Remote-first culture with access to a New York City office for those who prefer a hybrid environment.

Values That Guide Us

The team practices adaptive tenacity—mapping ambitious destinations while staying ready to swerve. They approach challenges with compassionate curiosity, stepping into the shoes of the people their work impacts. They find humility in the hard stuff, sharing perfect outcomes alongside pitfalls. They leave lines open, fostering a workspace safe for every idea. And they balance impact and speed, treading with care when decisions have lasting consequences and pushing forward at full tilt when experiments can be optimized to infinity.
