They provide benefit administration solutions to employers, unions, health plans, and government entities, replacing fragmented, outdated systems with an industry-first unified claims processing architecture. This platform seamlessly consolidates pharmacy and medical benefit administration onto a single, secure system -delivering true price transparency, eliminating unnecessary middleman fees, and leveraging advanced AI-powered care delivery.

The company is the intelligence platform powering benefits plans for millions of Americans, proudly leading the next generation of care. They are seeking a senior technology leader to own the technical vision, architecture, and evolution of their proprietary platform during a period of significant growth and transformation.

Why This is a Defining Leadership Opportunity

  1. Own a Mission-Critical Platform: Lead the engineering organization responsible for a platform that directly impacts healthcare access and affordability for millions of people.
  2. Shape the Future of Healthcare Technology: Drive the architectural evolution and modernization of a unified claims processing system spanning pharmacy, medical, dental, and vision domains.
  3. Lead AI Enablement at Scale: Define and execute the strategy for embedding AI capabilities into the platform while driving AI-assisted engineering practices across the entire technology organization.
  4. Executive Influence: Report directly to the Chief Technology and AI Officer, with responsibility for setting technical direction, building senior leadership talent, and communicating strategy to executive stakeholders.

About the Role

The Senior Vice President, Platform Engineering is the senior technology leader responsible for the technical vision, architecture, engineering, and evolution of the company's proprietary platform. Reporting directly to the Chief Technology and AI Officer, this role leads the teams and capabilities responsible for the core platform, ensuring it is scalable, reliable, secure, performant, and built to support the company's growth.

This leader will also drive the integration of artificial intelligence into the platform and lead AI enablement across the Technology organization—using AI to improve engineering productivity, software quality, delivery velocity, and how technology teams build and operate. This is a highly technical, enterprise-scale leadership role requiring deep platform engineering expertise, strong architectural judgment, and the ability to translate business and product priorities into durable technical capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Technical Strategy & Architecture: Own the technical strategy, architecture, engineering roadmap, and long-term evolution of the proprietary platform, translating company and product priorities into scalable platform capabilities.
  2. Engineering Leadership: Lead the engineering organizations responsible for the core platform, establishing clear accountability for architecture, development, quality, reliability, performance, and operational health.
  3. Platform Scalability: Ensure the platform can scale across pharmacy, medical, dental, and vision claims domains while maintaining the security, resilience, and performance required in a high-compliance healthcare environment.
  4. Engineering Standards: Set and enforce modern engineering and architecture standards, including API and service design, cloud architecture, automated CI/CD, observability, reliability engineering, testing, release management, and technical documentation.
  5. Modernization Strategy: Own platform modernization and technical-debt strategy, balancing near-term delivery needs with long-term maintainability, scalability, and architectural integrity.
  6. Product Partnership: Partner closely with Product leadership to translate product strategy into technical roadmaps, sequencing foundational platform investments alongside customer- and market-facing capabilities.
  7. AI Platform Strategy: Lead the technical strategy for AI capabilities embedded within the platform, including architecture, integration patterns, platform services, model and vendor decisions, performance expectations, and operational requirements for secure and scalable AI-enabled experiences.
  8. AI Enablement: Drive AI enablement across the Technology organization by embedding AI-assisted development, testing, documentation, code review, troubleshooting, and operational workflows into engineering practices where they improve quality and productivity.
  9. Governance & Compliance: Partner with Data, Security, Privacy, Compliance, and other technology leaders to ensure platform and AI capabilities meet governance, regulatory, privacy, and security requirements.
  10. Team Building: Build, develop, and lead a high-performing platform technology organization, strengthening senior technical leadership, engineering talent, succession planning, operating discipline, and a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
  11. Executive Communication: Provide clear technical direction on complex platform decisions and communicate architecture, roadmap, risk, investment needs, and trade-offs effectively to executive and cross-functional stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  1. 15+ years of progressive software engineering and technology experience, including significant senior leadership responsibility for enterprise-scale software platforms and engineering organizations.
  2. Deep technical expertise in modern software architecture, cloud-based platforms, APIs and distributed systems, data-intensive applications, software development practices, and production operations.
  3. Demonstrated experience owning and evolving complex, mission-critical platforms with responsibility for scalability, reliability, performance, security, and technical quality.
  4. Proven experience leading senior engineering leaders and large, multi-disciplinary technology teams in a fast-paced environment.
  5. Demonstrated experience applying AI to software products and/or engineering workflows, with the technical fluency to evaluate AI architectures, tooling, models, integration approaches, risks, and trade-offs.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; advanced degree preferred.
  2. Experience in health technology, benefits administration, claims processing, or another highly regulated, high-compliance industry.
  3. Experience modernizing and scaling enterprise platforms through periods of rapid growth while improving engineering productivity and delivery predictability.
  4. Experience establishing reusable AI platform capabilities and driving adoption of AI-assisted software engineering practices across a technology organization.
