About the Role

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be a core member of a collaborative team of engineers, applied scientists, and healthcare professionals building cutting-edge generative AI technologies. Your primary focus will be on architecting, building, and scaling the robust backend infrastructure that powers secure, reliable, and high-performance data processing for AI-driven healthcare solutions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable backend systems to support enterprise-grade AI applications in the healthcare sector.
2. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists and ML engineers, to build efficient, large-scale data pipelines for complex healthcare datasets.
3. Build and manage high-performance APIs and microservices that enable seamless data retrieval, processing, and interaction with advanced AI models.
4. Implement and champion data security, privacy, and compliance protocols to ensure the absolute protection of sensitive patient information.
5. Proactively monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize backend systems for maximum performance, reliability, and uptime.
6. Work in tandem with product managers to translate critical healthcare requirements into elegant and effective technical solutions.

Qualifications (Must-Have)

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
2. 5+ years of professional experience in backend development using languages like Python, Golang, or similar.
3. Proven expertise with cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP, Kubernetes) and a strong understanding of SaaS control planes.
4. Deep familiarity with relational database systems and designing RESTful APIs.
5. Strong problem-solving skills, a collaborative spirit, and a relentless drive to learn and grow.
6. Plus, significant experience in at least one of the following areas:
7. Building modern agentic frameworks and orchestration platforms for LLM-based agents.
8. Designing and deploying conversational AI systems, using either third-party platforms or custom in-house technology.
9. Developing and scaling production-grade LLM applications or autonomous agents used in real-world workflows.

Bonus Qualifications (Nice-to-Have)

1. Exposure to core AI/ML concepts or direct experience working with Large Language Models.
2. Experience working in environments that handle sensitive or regulated data (HIPAA, SOC 2, etc.).
3. Familiarity with technologies such as SQLAlchemy, Flask, and asynchronous programming patterns.
