The Role

In this role, you will leverage your deep engineering expertise to solve some of the most complex challenges in the financial technology space. Our platform is built on a cloud-native, infrastructure-as-code foundation, running a sophisticated Python-based modular monolith. This architecture combines the resilience and scalability principles of distributed systems with the operational simplicity of a mono-repo. We utilize traditional HTTP APIs and advanced, durable asynchronous execution frameworks to orchestrate intricate background workflows—from facilitating financial transactions to ensuring regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Own and drive complex, cross-functional projects from conception through to deployment, proactively collaborating with diverse teams to deliver innovative solutions.
  2. Develop and iterate on prototypes to creatively address and de-risk technical challenges.
  3. Actively contribute to a culture of feedback by providing and receiving candid, constructive insights to elevate the team's performance.
  4. Champion software quality through direct contributions, rigorous code reviews, and enhancing team operational processes.
  5. Streamline the team's domain by identifying patterns, building deep expertise, and thoughtfully challenging existing conventions.
  6. Exercise and refine technical judgment by making well-reasoned decisions, documenting thought processes, and evaluating multiple solutions.
  7. Foster team growth by building authentic relationships, practicing transparency, and embracing vulnerability in the pursuit of excellence.

Our Technical Environment:

  1. Backend: Python, Django
  2. Frontend: React, TypeScript
  3. Infrastructure: AWS, Terraform
  4. Database: Postgres
  5. Orchestration: Temporal
  6. Development: GitLab for CI/CD and issue tracking

Qualifications:

  1. Proven experience owning and delivering significant team-wide projects, with a strong focus on impact and stakeholder alignment.
  2. Background in developing complex, scalable systems, preferably within a regulated industry.
  3. A demonstrated history of high-velocity, high-quality decision-making informed by past experiences.
  4. Advanced skills in debugging and resolving issues within intricate, distributed systems.
  5. Professional proficiency in Python or Go; familiarity with Django, React, or TypeScript is highly advantageous.
