About the company

Every business depends on accounting. Yet most software in the category was built in the early 2000s slow, clunky, and years behind on AI. Accountants now face a growing, unsolved data problem created by complexity, volume, and fragmented systems, without the tools to address it. The problems are real, hard, and increasingly urgent. They are also solvable.

This company is building the modern platform for accounting and finance the platform that delivers on the promise of live, rich, trustworthy data and insight companies can actually run decisions on.

The team takes on the foundational challenges required to automate ingest, transformation, matching, projection, and reporting across an end-to-end graph of financial data. By weaving together data, automation, workflows, and AI-first experiences, it gives accounting teams ownership of a continuous window into their company's finances and activity.

Product-market fit is strong, with a growing customer base that genuinely likes the product, including many of the best-known names in AI and fintech. Investors include top-tier venture firms alongside founders and executives from category-defining companies.

About the role

Engineers here own end-to-end execution and help shape product strategy and direction. The company looks for bright, fast builders with strong fundamentals and real focus on the user and on solving the right problem rather than the nearest one.

What this person might work on

The data platform

  1. Ingestion, metadata management, lineage, and transformation — supporting the depth and nuance detailed analysis requires while keeping everything traceable back to source
  2. The reporting experience, where users flexibly define highly structured projections of their financials, save them as reports, and wire them into their workflows. Reports are traceable and composable, so anyone can drill from a summary down to individual transactions
  3. Monitoring that lets customers catch bad data at the source instead of untangling mistakes weeks or months after the fact

The core automation engines

  1. A generalizable accounting engine that brings structure to chaos, automating a large share of the work, cutting manual error, and turning accountants into engineers
  2. A cash matching product that saves customers hundreds of painstaking hours a month, resolving event streams of transactions through a combination of rules, statistical methods, and AI to build out the financial graph
  3. The underlying tooling for simulation and its associated DSL, projection, time travel, and more — the machinery that lets the team iterate fast while holding correctness and consistency

The workflow and AI layers

  1. Complex cyclical work driven by dependencies, communication, insights, and workflow automation, helping customers run world-class operations through a smooth month-end close and year-end audit
  2. A user experience the team takes real pride in, built on strong design and nuanced AI workflows that bring the full power of the platform together

Requirements

  1. A degree in computer science or another technical field
  2. 4+ years of software engineering experience

How the team works

This role is in-person in San Francisco.

Engineers learn the domain, meet their users, and exercise substantial creativity and agency over product direction. The team moves fast, operates with high integrity, and genuinely likes collaborating.

The company believes the best business is the one with the best individual contributors, and has built its culture to maximize their work. Great product and engineering are seen as the output of a desire to win, deep care for the craft, and pragmatism about shipping for overall impact. Engineers ground their work in a real understanding of the users, the domain, and the organization's goals.
