The Role: Staff Software Engineer, Infrastructure

Engineering is the absolute core. This role is for a foundational builder who combines strong software design skills with deep, hands-on infrastructure expertise. This is a key engineering job in New York for someone who has built and owned complex systems end-to-end in fast-paced environments and takes pride in building systems that are simple, resilient, and foundational.

In this role, you will:

1. Design and scale the core systems that move money, file taxes, and power every product.
2. Drive major improvements across cloud infrastructure, reliability, and developer experience.
3. Lead projects to simplify architecture and increase performance as the company grows.
4. Shape how engineering builds software by improving CI/CD, observability, and developer tooling.
5. Own key technical outcomes end-to-end, from design through production rollout.
6. Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver technical solutions that unlock business goals.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

We're looking for a staff-level engineer with a background in startup environments where ownership and impact are paramount. The ideal candidate has:

1. Staff-level experience setting technical direction and delivering impact across multiple teams.
2. Deep, hands-on experience with AWS, Terraform, Docker, and modern CI/CD systems.
3. Strong systems design skills and a track record of building reliable, maintainable services.
4. Proficiency in Python (experience with TypeScript or React is a plus).
5. Exceptional debugging skills and a passion for simplifying complex systems over time.
6. The ability to set a technical vision and rally a team around clear goals.

Compensation & Benefits:

For this NYC-based role, the expected base salary range is $225,000 - $247,500.
