About the job

Build the software that keeps critical infrastructure running where there's no power grid.

We're hiring a full-stack engineer to help build gMS, the cloud platform behind every Gridless unit in the field. A small, focused team means real ownership and a short path from idea to production — plus a toolchain built around AI-assisted development. On-site in Pennsauken, NJ.

About Gridless

Gridless Power Corporation builds off-grid battery power and communications systems for enterprise and government customers. Our units keep security cameras, lights, speakers, and alarms running where grid power isn't practical — construction sites, municipal deployments, schools, retail properties, utility infrastructure, and emergency response operations.

Every unit ships with gMS™, our cloud-based remote management platform. gMS gives customers one view of their entire fleet: site and unit maps, actionable alerts, system performance data, local weather conditions, real-time telemetry, and mobile access. It's what turns our hardware from a battery into an intelligent, remotely serviceable system — and it's why customers troubleshoot from a desk instead of dispatching a technician.

The Role

You'll work across the whole stack: shipping new customer-facing features, improving the interface our customers live in every day, building Python backend services for data analysis and system integration, and developing internal web applications end to end. gMS is built on ThingsBoard, so part of the job is working effectively within — and sometimes around — the constraints of a third-party platform.

This is a role for a pragmatic, ship-it engineer. We're a small team, not a large engineering org: you'll own features from design through deployment, make real architectural calls, and see your code running on hardware deployed in the field.

We've heavily adopted AI-assisted development — Claude Code is a core part of our daily workflow, and we expect it to be how a lean team ships like a much larger one.

What You'll Do

  1. Design, build, and ship features across gMS, from database to interface
  2. Improve the gMS user interface and overall experience in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript within Angular
  3. Build and maintain Python backend services for data analysis, telemetry processing, and system integration
  4. Develop internal web applications end to end for our operations, support, and engineering teams
  5. Extend and customize ThingsBoard, including integrations with third-party services and APIs
  6. Work with real-time and time-series data from battery systems deployed in the field
  7. Own your features through deployment, monitoring, and iteration

What We're Looking For

  1. 3–6 years of professional full-stack development experience
  2. Strong Python and JavaScript/TypeScript — our backend services are Python today, and we're open to the right tool for future work
  3. Solid front-end skills in a modern component framework (Angular, React, or similar)
  4. Hands-on experience with a major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  5. Comfort working inside third-party platform constraints, and the judgment to know when to extend versus work around them
  6. Fluency with AI-assisted development workflows, paired with the engineering judgment to review, test, and own everything you ship
  7. Ability to work on-site full time in Pennsauken, NJ

Nice to Have

  1. Direct ThingsBoard experience
  2. Background in IoT, telemetry, or time-series data systems
  3. Experience with data visualization, mapping, or dashboard-heavy applications
  4. Exposure to energy storage, battery management, or industrial monitoring
  5. Experience building for enterprise or government customers

Why This Role

  1. A small, focused platform team — your work is visible, and it ships fast
  2. Real product influence: on a team this size, the person building the feature helps decide what the feature is
  3. Software with a physical footprint — you'll see your code running on hardware in the field
  4. Daily collaboration with the hardware, operations, and support teams, all under one roof
  5. A modern toolchain: we've invested in AI-assisted development, so your time goes to design decisions and product problems, not boilerplate

Compensation & Benefits

$75,000 – $130,000 per year, depending on experience.

  1. 401(k) with company matching
  2. Health, dental, and vision insurance
  3. Paid time off
